Frank Crowe has always had an interest in railroads. He began watching trains at an early age and picked up rail photography in the late 1970's. He then began drawing and painting railroad images. Railroads have always been his main focus and interest as a hobby. After completing high school in Albany, GA in 1983, Frank received a scholarship for his railroad watercolor paintings from the University of Georgia system. During his college tenure, Frank won numerous awards at various art shows. After graduating from UGA with a BS degree in Art Education, he worked for the Georgia Southwestern Railroad in Americus, GA. In 1990, as a CSX qualified engineer, Frank left the Georgia Southwestern and moved to Vidalia, GA. He was hired by the Georgia Central Railway as an engineer, operating to Savannah or Macon, GA. After a short career working for these companies, Frank put his college degree to work. He began working in Dalton, GA for one of the largest carpet producers in the world. He is currently a Senior Designer involved in product development. Frank designs and draws carpet patterns on a CAD system. Working a forty hour week has allowed Frank to do more traveling, railroad photography, and painting. He has photographed trains in the forty-eight contiguous states and in most Canadian provinces. Two of Frank's favorite railroad artists are the late Ted Rose and Howard Fogg.
